Why is the community named Aulin's Landing at Oviedo? Historically, the founder of Oviedo was Andrew Aulin, a Swedish immigrant who emigrated to the United States about 1870 and settled at the Lake Jesup community. He had set up a post office at Solary's Wharf, which was one of the landing places along the south short of Lake Jesup. This was a major trade route in Central Florida. He was named the first postmaster on March 13th, 1879. As a tribute to Florida's Spanish ancestry, Aulin named the area Oviedo, after a city in Spain he had visited. The location of the post office is thought to have been just a few miles from our community of Aulin's Landing. We felt it was fitting to recognize our history and name the community Aulin's Landing at Oviedo. Aulin's is pronounced as "All-In" like a game of poker.
