We all know that homeownership is a long-term investment, but did you know that by implementing a series of easy, short-term checklists on the items you use most, you can avoid costly repairs caused by neglect?

We call these helpful hints, or friendly reminders. Here are a few to think about every 3 months or as the seasons change.

Laundry

Check to make sure your dryer’s exhaust vent is securely connected, then, check for blockages caused by lint buildup. Remove debris, and clean as needed.

While we’re on the subject of laundry, check your washing machine’s hose connections.

Laundry Room

A quick and simple inspection every 3 months for drips, cracks, and dry rot can head off problems that can affect your washing machine’s efficiency or worse—lead to bigger issues, like water damage.

Consult your appliance’s owner’s manual for more information.

Doors and Windows

Remember to clean and lubricate all sliding glass doors and window tracks.

No matter how you track and schedule your home’s regular maintenance care you can rest assured that by doing so, you’re not only preventing potential problems; you’re making your little corner of the world safer, healthier, and run more efficiently.

You’ll have time for more uninterrupted date nights, for more endless family game nights, for more quiet, peaceful nights—because home means more at M/I Homes.
