New Construction Upgrades That Add Value: A Guide to Personalizing Your New Home
Posted by Chandler Wall in Dallas, Happy Homeowners
First-time homebuyers Helen and Orlando McConnell were elated to find out that buying instead of renting would be a possibility for their family, and they’ve soaked up every moment of purchasing their new home. Read about their experience building with M/I in Celina, TX!
How did you find out about M/I Homes and Bluewood?
We found M/I Homes when we came across the Bluewood community. We had been living in an apartment with our 3 kids building our credit and saving away to purchase a home. Once we knew it was time to begin searching for our first home to own, we started looking into many neighborhoods in the Celina area.
When we came across Bluewood we knew it was the community for us. M/I Homes had the exact floorplan we had been looking for in the perfect community.
What are your family’s favorite activities to get involved in within the growing Celina area?
Our favorite part of Celina is the small town feel and all the activities their square hosts. It’s minutes away from all the modern amenities, so you don’t miss out on any shopping or restaurants.
What made you choose M/I Homes over the other builders in your area?
This was our first time shopping for a home. We started looking at new builds and felt like we would be overwhelmed. After viewing a few preowned homes, we decided to go back to the idea of a new build.
M/I was there every step of the way through each process and made everything feel so easy. They have always been very transparent and fast to respond to questions or concerns along the way, even taking us out to other communities to view M/I floorplans we were interested in that weren’t built yet in Bluewood.
What was some of the must-haves you two were wanting in your new home?
Our must-haves when choosing a home were 2 beds down and 2 bedrooms up, a media room, a game room, and an open concept. We wanted our older boys to have their own space up and be able to keep our younger child downstairs close to us.
What is your absolute favorite feature of your home?
Our absolute favorite thing about our new house is definitely the add-on media room—we are looking forward to many family movie nights. It was so fun picking out all the details, tiles, brick, and features to make this home our own.
How are you looking forward to personalizing your new home once you move in?
We are looking forward to building our dream backyard and expanding custom details throughout the home.
After renting for so many years we are so excited to have a home we can call our own.
If you’re still renting and are wondering if buying is possible for you, check out these 4 facts about buying vs. renting!
