Hearing our happy homeowners’ stories is inspiring: experiencing new construction for the first time, moving in and decorating until everything looks just how they like it, acclimating to their surroundings and neighbors, and other aspects of the process.

Homeowners Pamela and Tony Holman provide a unique perspective on the new home buying experience, as Tony works for M/I Homes of Indianapolis!

Making the Long-Distance Move

Tony Holman and his family were living in Vernon Hills, Illinois when he accepted the position of Division Plan Manager at M/I Homes of Indianapolis in March of 2019. Although Tony was eager to begin his new career at our home building company, the family needed to take care of a couple important things first.

Pamela, Tony’s wife, was pregnant with their son when Tony accepted the position, and the family would need to sell their current house in Illinois in preparation for their move across states.

Thankfully, Tony was able to start work from our Chicago Division Office until these moving pieces could be taken care of!

Finding the Right Home in a New Place

Pamela Holman always thought of Indiana as a back-road-filled, farm-country-feel kind of state when Tony told her the news about his new job. Curious to see what opportunities were available for their family’s needs, the Holmans set about on finding their dream home.

Customer Service

Although Tony worked for M/I, the family received nothing short of the best customer service during their search. Tony worked very closely with New Home Consultant Patrick Ward, traveling back and forth to visit communities and homes, keeping in close contact over text or phone call, and even Facetiming to get a make-do tour of available Move-In Ready homes.

Checking All Their Boxes for a Home

A stellar school district in a family-friendly suburb was crucial for the Holmans and their two young children. They quickly fell in love with a home in our Scofield Farms community in Westfield.

This new home had the chef’s kitchen, morning room, white cabinets, and other design features that instantly drew in Pamela and Tony.

The couple’s favorite thing about this community is the walking trails and various outdoor amenities for the whole family to get out and enjoy some fresh air and exercise together—they take family walks as much as they possibly can, and one of their favorite weekend activities is taking their stroller and two adorable dogs to the Noblesville Farmers Market!

Settling into a New Home and Neighborhood

The Holman family has been adjusting well in Westfield, Indiana, and they are meeting new friends and having playdates with their kids! Pamela loves taking Shayna and Myles to story time at Barnes & Noble and meeting other new moms in the area.

Shayna helps Mom try new baking recipes in their beautiful new kitchen or creating a new craft or painting while Myles coos quietly nearby as they wait for Dad to get home from work. On weekends or weeknights when Tony is home, the Holmans join fellow neighbors for meet-and-greet events or BBQs to get to know each other.

The Holman home is truly an extension of their sweet family. Pamela and Tony invited us to see their new home once they had moved in—even though it still had that wonderful new-home smell they couldn’t wait to show it off!

For these move-up buyers, the emphasis is really on their children and dogs. They all love spending time together in their home or at a park. Lovely whites, grays, and neutral laminate flooring seem to further accentuate what’s most important to this family—we couldn’t help but notice brightly colored toys stocked throughout the main living areas where the family loves playtime together!

As he hugged his wife a little closer and smiled at his adorable daughter painting her latest masterpiece across the room, Tony assured us that this was the right move for the whole family.
