A Guide to Moving to Fort Myers
Posted by Bruce Borden in Local Guides and Resources
As you feel the morning sun pour in through your windows to start your day and sip on a cold beverage outdoors to end your evening, summertime just seems to invoke a feeling of invigoration and energy in us.
For some, that energy can look something like packing moving boxes to the brim and starting a new chapter in a new home, especially with this summer’s historically low interest rates.
We’ve witnessed a host of new homeowners brimming with joy as they get a photo taken with their new homesite, sign their closing papers, and get the keys to their new home so far this summer. As they envision making their new home uniquely them, making wonderful new memories in their new space, and starting a new phase of life, their joy is truly contagious.
The process of moving into a home this summer should continue that sunshine, not bring rain clouds! There are lots of adjustments throughout your move: schools, neighbors, surroundings. Having the answers you need and a team dedicated to your new home’s construction will put you at ease, allowing you to focus on other things.
Our quickest tips for buying a new home this summer:
- Don’t sweat it. Well, some sweat in summer is inevitable. But it doesn’t have to be about building your home! Let our team put their expertise to work to make your home the best it can be.
- Get inspiration for your home’s design. This one should come fairly easily. There are so many interior designers and home inspiration sources available today, they’re almost impossible to avoid! Here’s one account we love from an M/I Homeowner!
- Take joy in each and every moment. When you see the framework of your new home for the first time, it’ll start to feel real. When you see the sod being laid in front of your home, it’s really real! Capture all of the moments for an album or for great social posts!
- Ask away. No question is a stupid question. In fact, some of the best advice our homeowners have shared with friends and family is to ask all the questions you have. Your home is a really big deal!
- Stay in touch. Did you know that the M/I Homes Welcome to Better Blog offers tips for all stages of homeownership? That’s right: we’ve got you covered for seasonal maintenance in future summers to keep your home spic and span! Even after you’ve moved in, reference our blog for home tips.
- Share what you love about your home! Whether you’ve found the best reading nook for you, tea party corner for the little ones, or entertaining space for friends, we love to see your creativity come to life in your new home. You just might inspire someone else’s interior decor, too!
